Background:

The school was founded in the 1890's and is situated in a village seven miles from Cardiff. It provides education through the medium of Welsh or English. Sports offered include rugby, football, cricket and netball, with competition against local schools. The school enjoys close community links and makes use of local facilities. The school won the Welsh Heritage Initiative Trust Award for local history project in 2000 as well as claiming the Cardiff Youth Summit Award for a garden and nature area project. The school opened a brand new early year building. As well as housing classrooms, the new block includes library and an excellent nursery section. As from September 2006 provision was extended to include part time Welsh medium nursery education. The main school building is also being completely refurbished and provides staff and pupils with an excellent teaching and learning environment. The school aims to enable each child to reach his/her full potential. To instil a sense of pride in our nation, language and heritage. And to give each child the opportunity to develop into a complete and individual member of Society in a rapidly changing world.
