The school was founded in 1977 near Cardiff; pupils taught through medium of Welsh or English, according to wishes of parents; equal status given to both languages and equal importance attached to each stage of education from nursery to Year 6. Offers range of extra-curricular activities: gardening club, choir, orchestra, football, netball, rugby, cricket and eisteddfod activities; national successes in sports, music and drama. Cardiff and Vale music services provide lessons in individual instruments: trombone, clarinet, cello, piano and harp. The school is 'one community with no sense of division'; aims to provide 'caring and supportive community where each child will realise his or her potential'.
