Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeq Glantaf was established in 1978 following demand for Welsh-medium education; on the banks of River Taf, two miles from city centre. The school is housed in a mixture of original 1950s buildings. Two further blocks opened in 1998 including a performing arts centre with recording studio, and drama studio; state-of-the-art science block. Technology workshops have also been upgraded. All subjects are taught in Welsh. Schools Curriculum Award (2002); Investor in People status (2001). Ethos: 'The school'seeks to promote the spiritual, moral social and cultural development of the pupils within a community, which enables them to appreciate the culture and heritage of Wales'.
